'Come and Explore the volcanic wonderland of Tongariro National Park'
WINTERWOOD LODGE, our fully furnished family holiday cottage, is privately situated within our separated enclosed rear garden in the peaceful River area of Turangi, in a quiet street off Taupahi Road. Sheltered beneath Mt Pihanga at the Southern end of Lake Taupo, we have the famous Tongariro River at the end of our short street with the Hydro Pool, Major Jones Footbridge and trout fishing pools within easy walking distance, and The River Walk and cycle track begins at the Lodge back gate. Beyond Mt Pihanga lies the Tongariro National Park with Mts Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and Ruapehu providing awesome scenery, hiking trails and skiing. Lake Taupo, with beautiful evening sunset reflections is a short 5 minute drive away.
THE LODGE is a completely self-contained 3 bedroom holiday home, surrounded by its own private lawns and garden. It is a fully furnished 'home away from home' and equipped to accommodate a maximum of 6 people (including children). The Lodge interior is pleasantly decorated with New Zealand Art and an alpine atmosphere, to ensure you enjoy your mountain holiday experience.
Linen and bath towels are provided, however we do ask that you please bring your own Beach towels for use at the local Hot Thermal Pools and the Lake. All beds are fully made up with linen, duvets and electric blankets. Electric cooling fans are provided in the bedrooms and lounge room. The kitchen is fully equipped with the usual appliances including stove, fridge/freezer, microwave, and electric frypan. The Bathroom has a bathtub and a good strong hot shower, with separate toilet room. The laundry is complete with tub, auto washing machine and tumble dryer as well as an outdoor clothesline. The warm sunny lounge is large with comfortable seating and a selection of books for holiday reading, a television/video/DVD, radio and CD player and has a cosy Kent log fire with all firewood provided. A wooden sun deck extends off the lounge into the private garden and BBQ area with superb views of Mt Pihanga. A secure lock-up shed is available to store your bikes, fishing rods and waders, and sports gear. Car parking space beside the Lodge is limited to TWO vehicles only. When you book Winterwood Lodge, the whole Lodge is yours, no other guests will be staying.
The Lodge is cared for by the Owners and will always be freshly prepared for your arrival, with complimentary fresh baked cookies for you to enjoy.

CHECK OUT TIME: Please plan to vacate by 10am unless by prior arrangement.
WHAT TO BRING: You will need to bring:
*Food and Refreshments (available in our local supermarket).
*Towels for Beach and Hot Pools.
*Toiletries and Bathroom requirements.
*Warm Clothes (be prepared for the cold at any time of the year as we are in an alpine area).
*Your favourite slippers as we prefer a No Shoes policy inside the house.
*Bring your GPS if you're into Geocaching! Many Caches hidden in our area.
*Fishing Rods and Ski Gear (can also be hired locally),
*Bring your bicycles, there are some lovely rides around quiet streets, riverside tracks and MTB tracks.
*Raincoats - Bushwalks and waterfalls are even more beautiful in the rain!
